With a population of 1,000 in 1960, Plainsboro has rapidly
evolved into a growing community of over 20,000 inhabitants. Plainsboro's
history has been traced through artifacts to 1700 B.C.
Settled by the Dutch and British, the commerce in the Plainsboro
area has remained closely tied to the transportation thoroughfare known
as Route 1, early on a private toll road between Trenton and New Brunswick.
Although in different counties, Plainsboro and West Windsor
have a highly rated combined regional school district.
Plainsboro is also home to a substantial number of high
tech companies.
In addition to many recent single family residential developments,
Plainsboro has several large condominium projects. All of this sitting
in the middle of many large tracts of farmland preserved open space.
